Provided you have the copy and images ready to go and a site plan, very little! In most cases typically no more than £200.00. Considering you might have paid less than £50.00 for the Template, this represents a very cost effective solution for your website. So what are the pros & cons of using commercial Templates?

Pros of commercial Templates

  • You get to choose the design - this overcomes any risk of not being happy with concepts
  • The design element of the process is MUCH cheaper
  • You have a picture of how you site will look from the outset which makes deciding on the content easier
  • You can usually achieve a site that looks very expensive for a relatively small outlay

Cons of commercial Templates

  • You run the high risk of having a site that looks identical to someone elses! You can buy the exclusive right to a Template, however you will be looking at typically £1500.00
  • Your site will not be Search Engine Optimised, however I can usually do that for an agreed charge
  • Your site will probably not meet many basic accessibility standards
  • You may find that when you add your custom graphics the site loses it's initial 'wow' factor
  • You may find that changing the colour base of a design, or significant structural or animation aspects is relatively expensive, so you have to chose a Template carefully from the outset to minimise any extra editing work

Does JeliNet offer Templates?

No. Web site Template businesses are a wholly different model to mine. There is a large investment in time required to build the products that then requires large sales to make a return. JeliNet is about personal service & bespoke products. This is not in anyway a criticism of Templates - they can be perfect for many solutions.

You must be mad recommending templates for a fraction of your site design prices!?

Not really - I'm confident and happy in my market and am not at all threatened by the template market. All of my customers want bespoke designs and the personal service - all I'm offering in this section is support for customers wanting templates.
