Macromedia (Adobe) Fireworks (MX 2004 & v8)
Macromedia Fireworks is an industry leader in graphic design and layout for websites. I offer training to empower you to gain a good understanding of the tool.
Overview of the typical subjects I can help with
- Understanding of image resolutions for screen & print
- Setting up new files - introducing the png format
- Understanding the relationship between Fireworks and Dreamweaver
- Understanding colour palettes and file types - CYMK , RGB and Websafe etc
- Setting up and changing image and canvas sizes
- Using the standard drawing tools
- Understanding the difference between bitmaps and vectors in Fireworks
- Using the selection tools
- Using the text tool and understanding the difference between aliased and non-aliased font
- Alignment and orientation of elements (images, vectors and text)
- Editing RGB colours for website designs
- Applying effects to images and vectors
- Converting vectors to bitmaps
- Editing, moving and flattening layers
- Inserting slices
- Exporting slices and images in preparation for insertion into websites
- Optimising exported images
Although Fireworks can create webpages and javascript driven menus I do not teach this or encourage this method of website build. The process leads to quick results, but little control over the underlying code.
Please note: I am not officially accredited by Macromedia to provide Macromedia Fireworks training. The skills I teach are those any experienced user of the software should be able to share.
